Baking Soda.. It’s Health Uses Amoung Others

Another inexpensive remedy?  Baking Soda helps relieve itching due to bacterial infections or added to a bath or made into a paste. It can be used to relieve the itching caused by chicken pox, sun burns and poisen ivy . Baking Soda is marketed as a whitener because of its abrasive properties in some toothpaste brands. It can also be used as a topical treatment for acne, when mixed with water into a paste. A paste from baking soda can be very effective when used in cleaning and scrubbing for brushes and combs to prevent residues, to clean juice, wine, and coffee stains.
Baking soda was used as the primary cleaning agent in the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. It is used as an antacid to treat acid indigestion and heartburn. It can be used in a mixture with sugar (50/50) as a household solution for killing cockroaches. Mixed with water and drunk, it can relieve cystitis. It is effective in extinguishing grease fires which may occur when deep frying. Freshly cut fruit can be soaked in sodium bicarbonate solution for a short while to prevent yellowing. It’s used when preparing tomato sauce to neutralize the tomato’s acidity. Baking soda can be used as a low-cost alternative to raise pH in swimming pools. What can baking soda not do? I use a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice to whiten my teeth, a couple of downward strokes (only), that’s all, because it  IS  abrasive.
